It is located at 870 meters above sea level on the northeast coast of Nahuel Huapi lake on the mountain foot of Cerro Bayo (1.782 m), Inacayal (1.840 m) and Belvedere (1.992 m). From this mountain villages you can enjoy trekking, mountain biking as well as horseback riding in constant contact with nature, its ancient forests of cypress, arrayán and coihue (nothofaghus) following crystal clear water streams. Sport fishing of salmons and water sports (rafting, diving, windsurf, water ski), complete this wide menu of travel adventure options.

 fly casting - patagonia - argentinaSalmon sport fishing: It is one of the most important attraction in summer season having the option to fish in any of the techniques (trolling, fly casting y spinning) in different lakes and rivers that flow into these lakes. The fishing season begins on the 1st of November and ends on the 15th of April. Specialized guiding services available upon request. Contact us about different options and rates.

viewpoint to Bayo mountain Villa La AngosturaPanoramic viewpoint Belvedere and Inacayal waterfall: (full day program) It is a steep and winding road, it is advisable to take guiding services to better appreciate the flora and fauna richness as well as the geography of the area. From the viewpoint to the Inacayal waterfall there is one hour walk, starting from 1.000 m a.s.l. From the view point you can see a wide panoramic view to the lakes: Correntoso and Nahuel Huapi. You also see the mountains Dormilón, Tres hermanas, Pantojo, Titlis, Rincón, Campana and Macal in Chile. On the way to the waterfall we can observe the changing forest as we ascent going from tall trees to low bush and many different birds. The waterfall formed by the Las Piedritas stream has a fall of 50 m. It is glacier origin canyon covered with fern and high mountain flowers.

Cerro Bayo y Puerto Manzano - Villa La Angostura Bonito river waterfall and Bayo mountain: (full day program you can go hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding on this trail). the road offers great views of Villa La Angostura and Manzano, Cumelén bays as well as Las Balsas bay and Quetrihué peninsula. It is a 5 km macadam road to the direction sign of Bonito river waterfall, which has a fall of 35m falling into a basaltic bowl of 8 mCascada río Bonito - Villa La Angostura diameter, emerald color,color. Then the road continues to the base station of Bayo skiing center at 1050 m above sea level. From here you can take the ski lift to the middle part and then ascent to the summit walking or mountain biking appreciating the beautiful views to the mountains, lakes and forest. If you go with a mountain bike on the way down you have several optional trails with grade IV difficulty. You can also follow the Fonseca trail suitable for trekking, horseback riding or mountain biking. (Service available upon request)

Arrayanes Forest: (if trekking full day program, with mountain bike it is a half day program): The arrayan forest is located at the SE of Quetrihué peninsula at the end of a 12 km (8 miles) trail which starts at Brava bay. You may also take the hovercraft on one way and return hiking or mountain biking. On the way you go through different forests, streams and lagoons with great fauna richness. You have no steep slopes (grade III difficulty). This arrayan forest with Victoria island is the only one in the world that has up to 25 m tall trees and 300 years old samples. (Service available upon request)

Cajón Negro: you can get to this valley through several trails. It is surrounded by the mountains: Inacayal, Belvedere and Belvedere ridge. From here you can hike up to the spring of Piedritas stream. On this trail you may see condors, foxes and pumas (patagonian lion). You can also observe the changing vegetation as you go upper. This program it is specially beautiful in autumn with great changing colors from green to red and orange of the lenga and ñire trees. Just going in one way it takes 3 to 4 hours walk. You can go on this trail also horseback riding. (Service available upon request).

7 lakes road: this program you my do it driving by car or van or you can do it in two days with a mountain bike. It is 110 km (60 miles) way just to San Martin de los Andes town. It is a winding road through leafy forest of coihues and has also some mountain sections Goes by lakes: Espejo, Correntoso, Espejo Chico, Villarino, Escondido, Falkner Hermoso and Machónico ending by the coast line of Lacar lake in San Martin de los Andes town. If you go mountain biking you will have to camp for the night in between and you have some slopes grade V difficulty. This program you can also do it in spring or autumn season (service available upon request).

Coihue el Abuelo (Grand father nothofagus) Última Esperanza branch: the trails begins 16 km (10 miles) from the Villa la Angostura on road to Espejo lake, on the viewpoint of Espejo. It follows a trails that goes through a coihue forest reaching a clear where are still some ruins of ancient native settlement. From there starts the trail to the Coihue Abuelo between cane forest (colihue cane - similar to bamboo).The coihue abuelo (nothofagus dombeyii) has between 400 and 500 years and may be hugged by 8 to 10 people. Then we return to the clear in the forest, from there we take the trail to Última Esperanza lake branch outskirting the Panguinal mountain (1.383m) and a lagoon with no name. We reach an old settlement with fruit trees from there we follow to the Nahuel Huapi lake coast. All together it is about 35 km (20 miles) long trail with grade III difficulty slopes that you can walk or mountain bike. (Service available upon request, guiding services are required)

huemul peninsula- Villa La AngosturaVilla Traful: it is 63 km away from Villa la Angostura on road to 7 lakes route. It is a winding road, macadam that goes through thick coihue forest and reaches Traful lake, at Arrayán port with a beautiful beach. Following this road you get to panoramic viewpoint Pared del Viento (Wind wall) which is a 70 meters high cliff over the lake with great views to the whole area. Following the road, crossing Minero river you get to Confluencia (where Traful and Limay rivers join) from there follows the road (pavement route) between ancient rock formations called Valle Encantado (enchanted valley) and Anfiteatro del Limay (Limay amphitheater) where you can see all kind of unique rock figure formations. You complete this circuit to Villa La Angostura driving on Huemul peninsula. If you go by car you can easily do it in one day. If you prefer mountain biking you will need two days with camping in between. This circuit has some slopes grade V difficulty. (Service available upon request)

Laguna Verde: This city hall reserve it is just 1200 m (0,8 miles) away from Puerto Angostura, it is a forest of cypress, coihues, arrayan and radal trees. In its center it is the lagoon of an intense green color with a high population of native birds and fishes that inhabit this ecosystem. Near the little dock is the Arrayán del Amor - love Arrayan (a curious formation of a cypress and an arrayán that have wind up together its branches and stems). This program is for about 3 to 4 hours walking or biking.

Puerto Manzano - Villa La AngosturaGuided city tour to Villa La Angostura and Puerto Manzano: you will tour around 15 km (9 miles) through different quarters of the so called "ALDEA ANDINA" (Andean village) visiting different historic monuments and constructions most important of the region. (US$ 3.- per person)

Patagonia fauna and flora watching tour: this are hiking tours with three language speaking guide. You will tour around for about 2 hours, through native forest and following the stream of Bonito river (U$ 5.- per person).

 Puerto Manzano viewpoint- Villa La Angostura Patagonia - bosque de arrayanesPeninsula Quetrihué panoramic viewpoint: When you enter the Arrayanes National Park the road divides in two, taking the right trail after 20-30 minutes hike you reach the Arrayán viewpoint. The trails goes through native forest with different flowers with a constant bird singing, such as chucao, ratoneras and cotorras australes. From the viewpoint you can see: Nahuel Huapi lake, Fray Menéndez island and the cordillera ridge chain that marks the limit with Chile. Following the same trail you get to Messidor I and II viewpoints from where you can see Mansa bay and Angostura port. (Service available upon request)

Cardenal Samoré border pass to Chile and Puyehue hot springs: just 26 km (16 miles) from the Villa is the Argentine custom service office Rincón and 17 km (10,50 miles) ahead it is the border line with Chile. The border pass it is opened all year round, it is at 1.314 m above sea level. From there it is at 23 km away the Chilean custom service office Pajaritos and driving forward 20 km (14 miles) it is Hotel Termas de Puyehue (Puyehue hot springs hotel) with hot springs waters that have 70° at the spring, but it is cooled so at the swimming pools the water has only 28°. This program may be done in one day having the opportunity to enjoy the hot springs in the hotel swimming pools or at its origin in the river in the place called Aguas Calientes (hot waters). You may also stay over night and combine hot springs with hikes or horseback riding in the area called Gol Gol. (Service available upon request).

Guided tour to Salmon foundation: (free of charge for B&B Chez Marianne guests, 2 hours tour): The foundation begin in 1994 as a way to preserve the fishing resources for sport fishing. The foundation works on artificial reproduction of salmons and the then sowing it to the lakes. It is non governmental organization that financially assists the works that are held at Bonito river. There they catch the salmons and take the eggs that they keep in a sort of hatchery until these turn into small fishes that are then released back to the natural environment, giving it more chances of survival and to convert into adult reproducer, returning to complete the cycle.

winter sports in Villa La Angostura - cerro Bayo

esqui en cerro Bayo villa La Angostura Bayo skiing center: The base station is at 1050 meters above sea level and 9 km (5 miles) from the commercial area of Villa la Angostura. This skiing center has: two chairlifts, 5 skilifts, 1 T-bar skilift and 2 baby-lifts. The center has a capacity of transporting 4500 skiers per hour and has 20 km of paths and skiing areas. It has also backcountry slopes in an area of 200 ha covered with forest and powder snow for snowboarding.

Ski lessons: in winter season from 15th of June to 15th of September, (service available upon request).
